Braided Textiles explores braiding textiles
as an alternative material for clothing. A
Production method on the radial braiding
machine modernises braiding craftsmanship
through a robotic and machine-assisted
process. The aim of Braided Textiles is to
use this process to generate a new genre of
seamless textiles for use in Fashion and to
sustainably open up new aesthetic and func-
tional perspectives in Fashion design for
wearers and beyond in garment Production.

Braided Textiles erforscht das Flechten von
Textilien als alternatives Material für die
Bekleidung. Ein Produktionsverfahren auf
der Radialflechtmaschine modernisiert das
Flechthandwerk durch einen roboter- und
maschinengestützten Prozess. Ziel von
Braided Textiles ist es, mit diesem Verfahren
ein neues Genre von nahtlosen Textilien für
die Anwendung in der Mode zu generieren und
nachhaltig neue ästhetische und funktionale
Perspektiven im Modedesign für Träger:innen
und darüber hinaus in der Bekleidungsproduk-
tion zu eröffnen.
