Dear Reader,
I am honoured by the interest in the Green Product Award and want to thank the
Green Future Club for partnering with the Swedish Embassy on the 2023 edition of the
competition. This spring, Sweden holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU, and
I want to give you an idea into how you, participants and readers can help us achieve
Green Trend Book 2023
the priorities Sweden has set for the presidency. We want a freer, greener,
This EU Presidency is marked heavily by Russia´s brutal invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s
aggression is presenting serious challenges for Europe, but the swift and united
actions taken in support of Ukraine demonstrates what we can achieve together. When
the time for reconstruction comes, our joint efforts today will pave the way for the
green transformation.
The green transformation is an important priority for Sweden, not only within the EU
Presidency. Decarbonizing economies is essential to mitigate the effects of climate
change. We work closely with EU partners on how to accelerate the deployment of
renewable energy sources and reduce overall emissions. However, we also recognize
that the sustainability challenges go beyond our Production of energy. From design to
finished Product, every step must be part of sustainable solutions.
This year’s participants show strong commitments in the full life cycle of their Prod-
ucts and Concepts. These innovations make a direct contribution to our joint efforts
to protect the planet and promote sustainable development. We can only reach our
set targets through innovations such as these, and the future collaborations between
young designers and experienced manufacturers is essential. It is with great pleasure
we offer the Nordic embassies common house, “Felleshus”, as a venue for the award
and the accompanying public pop-up exhibition.
The road ahead is truly challenging, but I am convinced that through collaboration and
innovation a greener future is possible. But not only possible; it is necessary.
