Melwear aprovecha el poder de los microbios para proteger nuestro cuerpo de la dañina radiación UV. En un futuro en el que el proceso natural de evolución es incapaz de adaptar nuestros ecosistemas a las cambiantes condiciones ambientales, Melwear abre una nueva perspectiva para ayudar a nuestros cuerpos a ser más resistentes al cambio climático, protegiendo al mismo tiempo la salud de nuestros ecosistemas. El concepto consiste en una membrana especular con melanina bacteriana, que tiene propiedades absorbentes de los rayos UV y antioxidantes. Una segunda piel que reacciona al medio ambiente, proporcionando una protección duradera y eficaz a nuestro cuerpo.

The MA Biodesign at Central Saint Martins specifically understands biodesign as a means of incorporating the inherent life-conducive principles of biological living systems into design processes – to transition into a more holistic, sustainable future.
The course introduces designers from multidisciplinary design backgrounds to whole system thinking, biomimicry principles, biological systems, bio-computational design, digital and bio-fabrication techniques. These principles are applied to design new sustainable materials, products, services, systems, and architectural propositions.
