SEAD

La jardinería resistente se une a los residuos reciclados

SEAD es una colección de productos biodegradables que facilitan el almacenamiento y el cultivo de semillas ecológicas. La vaina, el huevo y el vaso SEAD están hechos de quitina, un polímero derivado de los subproductos de las cáscaras desechadas de la industria de procesamiento de marisco. La colección está hecha al 100% de quitina mediante un proceso de conformado sin aglutinantes. Como polímero orgánico y bioestimulante rico en nitrógeno, la quitina ofrece ventajas tanto mecánicas como agrícolas al jardinero doméstico. Todos los productos SEAD están diseñados para ser plantados junto con las semillas que contienen, lo que da una nueva ventaja y significado al proceso de cultivo.

Mara Zimmerman
Mara is a New York based industrial designer. She has an MFA in Industrial Design from the Parsons School of Constructed Environments. She is an avid maker with a background in building and commits her practice to the exploration and development of sustainable materials and their applications in an effort to amend wasteful and extractive practices. Mara uses her knowledge of making along with research and iterative testing to get tangible results. Currently, she spends much of her energy pursuing waste-based material experimentation and product development.
