Widerstandsfähiges Gärtnern trifft auf wiederverwerteten Abfall
SEAD ist eine Kollektion biologisch abbaubarer Produkte, die die Lagerung und den Anbau von Bio-Saatgut erleichtern. Die SEAD-Schale, das Ei und der Becher bestehen aus Chitin, einem Polymer, das aus den ausrangierten Schalen der Fischverarbeitungsindustrie gewonnen wird. Die Kollektion besteht zu 100 % aus Chitin und wird in einem bindemittelfreien Verfahren hergestellt. Als organisches Polymer und stickstoffreiches Biostimulans bietet Chitin sowohl mechanische als auch landwirtschaftliche Vorteile für den Heimgärtner. Alle SEAD-Produkte sind so konzipiert, dass sie zusammen mit den Samen, die sie enthalten, gepflanzt werden können, was dem Anbauprozess neue Vorteile und eine neue Bedeutung verleiht.

Mara Zimmerman
Mara is a New York based industrial designer. She has an MFA in Industrial Design from the Parsons School of Constructed Environments. She is an avid maker with a background in building and commits her practice to the exploration and development of sustainable materials and their applications in an effort to amend wasteful and extractive practices.
Mara uses her knowledge of making along with research and iterative testing to get tangible results. Currently, she spends much of her energy pursuing waste-based material experimentation and product development.
