Waste LCD glass absorbent

Moisture-storing building material from LCD displays

In 2018 alone, 198 million square meters of LCD panels were produced worldwide, which until now had ended up as electronic waste.
Fortune WEEE has developed a recycling process that uses LCD to produce high-tech glass that contains micronanopores. The result is a porous material that, through the modification of the surface tension, acquires the property of absorbing and desorbing large amounts of moisture. A property that is particularly in demand for building materials to regulate room humidity. Diatomite bath mats for bathroom floors were developed as an application.
