AeR

Bioprinting microclimates

AeR is a speculative design concept that uses photosynthetic microalgae such as cyanobacteria and lichens to create modular wall surfaces, through the process of bioprinting. Our vision is for users to be able to choose the type of bio-ink based on colour and properties of the organisms, as well as the shape of their scaffolds to customize their indoor microclimate. The use of dual extrusion method in bio printing allows us to create cavities in various shapes on which the bio ink (i.e. living organisms) can be implanted and then closed again with hydrogel.
