PAPILIO

Wind powered street light tackling light pollution

Light pollution and the resulting effects on flora, fauna and people are constantly increasing. At the same time, the world's population spends around a fifth of the entire global electricity on illuminating the public space. PAPILIO is an innovative street lamp that uses an integrated wind generator to climate-neutrally generate all the energy it consumes. To reduce light pollution, it is constructed as a full-cut-off light, only emitting light downwards. Moreover, PAPILIO has an insect-friendly light spectrum and an infrared sensor, which only activates the light when it is actually needed.
