bioMATTERS, ein in New York City und London ansässiges Studio für Biodesign, hat lebende Materialien und Fertigungsabläufe entwickelt, um nicht wiederholbare Innenraumfliesensysteme zu schaffen. Die Fliesen bieten eine nachhaltige Alternative zu Innenverkleidungen, da sie aus lebenden Organismen und upgecycelten organischen Abfällen hergestellt werden und zu 100 % biologisch abbaubar sind. Die Platten werden mit Hilfe von Computeralgorithmen entworfen, in 3D gedruckt, mit Myzel gezüchtet und mit Biopigmenten aus Algen verfeinert, um Farbe hinzuzufügen. Das Ziel ist es, die Bioästhetik weiterzuentwickeln und ökologische Praktiken voranzutreiben, um einen kulturellen Wandel hin zu Biomaterialien zu fördern.
