Digital monitoring for medical fluid bags

SmartBagEco is an IoT monitoring solution for medical fluid bags, designed for hospitals and home care. It uses a reusable clip-on device and low-cost sensor stickers to digitally track fill levels in real time, reducing manual checks and increasing safety. Its sustainability comes from drastically reducing electronic waste with the reusable module and lowering material consumption by preventing premature bag disposal.

Starting out as a innovative medical technology founding project from Hochschule Kaiserslautern, SmartBagEco is now entering the German Startup Landscape. We strive to relieve nursing staff and patients through smart IoT technology in an environmentally friendly bag that measures fill levels and provides real-time data—for more efficient patient care. Supported by the founding office of HSKL and RPTU, the team successfully participated in the COSIMA competition and won the iCANX Innovation Award 2025. Hochschule Kaiserslautern promotes practice-oriented research in Rhineland-Palatinate.
