Splash of Life

A rain-triggered seeding device

Splash of Life is a passive, rain-triggered seeding device designed for ecological restoration in arid regions. Its innovation lies in translating splash-cup plant morphology into a mechanism that synchronizes the release of up to 150 small seeds with natural rainfall, ensuring optimal germination conditions. This low-intervention solution is made from biodegradable/recyclable materials and requires zero external energy.

I am a designer always fascinated by natural processes—such as rain, growth, and decay—and how they can become active design drivers rather than variables to control. Through hands-on experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration with scientists and environmental organizations, I aim to develop low-intervention systems that invite both ecological interaction and public participation. My work questions efficiency-driven solutions and proposes alternative futures grounded in uncertainty and collabration.
