Mycelium & Fiber is a research project creating a textile-mycelium composite using Trametes hirsuta fungus and natural fibers like silk, flax, and cotton. This new, light, and stable material offers an alternative to oil-based materials for design, architecture, and textiles. The process controls mushroom growth with textile structures. It is sustainable because it uses fully renewable and biodegradable raw materials, is produced with low energy and no harmful chemicals, and can replace petroleum-based materials.
