Pasar Lestari Kota Kinabalu

Sustainable renewal of Kota Kinabalu Market
Vote now

Pasar Lestari Kota Kinabalu is a redesign of the Central Market for the local community and tourists, solving issues of an aging structure and congested pier. The design uses climate-adaptive architecture with a roof that channels sea breezes for passive cooling and ventilation, reducing operational energy needs. It is sustainable through a circular reconstruction strategy, reusing existing concrete frames and materials to lower embodied carbon and construction waste, while also sustaining local livelihoods.
