Over 900 green startups are driving sustainable innovation in Berlin – and thus transforming industries from healthcare to luxury goods.
There are more than 900 green startups in Berlin, including over 300 Climate Tech startups. On average, solutions developed by green startups generate 70% lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, compared to the respective conventional alternatives. Green startups are also beginning to permeate the entire economy. Climate Health is a clear example: here, green startups support the healthcare sector (startup-map.berlin/lists/59022) in providing health products in a more environmentally friendly, circular economic, and climate-conscious way.
At the Green Product Award, the integration of green and sustainable thinking into traditional industries becomes even more multifaceted. Chairs, shoes, agriculture and forestry, batteries, construction and architecture, interior design, food, and even the luxury goods industry are all involved. The spread of circular economic and sustainable thinking can no longer be stopped. Consumers benefit from this today—and the inhabitants of the planet tomorrow.
In recent years, Climate Tech startups in Berlin have raised €800 million in venture capital. In 2022, Berlin set the goal for itself to become even more visible as the #CityOfImpactStartups in the Berlin Startup Agenda. Startups are achieving this through their products and services, together with many impact actors in the city and through impact-focused events, such as the Green Product Award!
