The Hop Project

Giving new meaning to byproducts from hop farming

The hop plant produces flowers that are commonly used for beer production. After harvesting the flower, the rest of the plant is usually burnt or composted. In this project, an exploration of the material properties of this so-called ‘’waste’’ is conducted with different approaches and techniques. The use of the hop plant for textile fibers, biocomposites, insulation, construction materials and others are explored with the intention of giving new meaning to forgotten plant fibers.
