Kartoon

Paper pulp children chair inspired by Kandinsky

KARTOON, a children’s chair made from carton waste, a design solution for presenting the beauty and characteristics of recycled materials in furniture design. Working with paper pulp is just as challenging and exciting as childhood memories and its final appearance just like children’s abstract paintings, has its perfections and at the same time flaws. To design a memorable chair, it should be beyond a normal chair. It must be a memorable form that tells a story and create a sweet joyful experience. KARTOON is made of water, paper, salt and rice flour. NO chemical glue is added to the mold.

We are a couple who met each other in the first year of university ( 2015 ) when we were studying Industrial design. We always complement each other, while I care more about aesthetic parts of projects due to my background in fine arts and Graphics design, Ali is more pragmatic and focus on functionalities. We decided to continue our studies in Italy to get inspiration from Italian design and get to know new people and cultures. Studying in Europe is full of opportunities since there is no border and we feel more freedom here. For us life is an adventure that we want to get lost in it's joys.
