Der Zunderschwamm
A material study of trama, the tinder sponge
As part of my Master's thesis, I made a material study on the material "trama", which can be produced from the tinder sponge. The manufactured Trama used to be a well-known textile material, but today the craft is almost extinct. Only in a few places, like in the forests of Romania, traditional garments such as hats, waistcoats and bags are still made today. In my work, I conducted experiments with the material to find out whether this almost forgotten material could offer a sustainable alternative for the future.

Jessica Bösherz, 26 Jahre alt, stammt ursprünglich aus der Nähe von Hamburg. Sie absolvierte ihr Designstudium in Dessau an der Hochschule Anhalt und spezialisierte sich zunächst auf Produktdesign. Im Rahmen ihres Masters vertiefte sie ihr Interesse an nachhaltigen Produkten und Materialforschung. Ihre Masterthesis widmete sich einer umfassenden Materialstudie des Zunderschwamms. Heute ist Jessica in Leipzig tätig, wo sie als intermediale Designerin in einer jungen Marketing- und Filmagentur arbeitet.
