FLOORENS

Innovation in craftsmanship by digitalization

FLOORENS is an autonomous flooring renovation system. Parquet is the sustainable flooring solution due to the possibility of renovation. The common machines are heavy, unwieldy and require skill. In addition, there is the problem of the increasing shortage of skilled workers. Consequently, the concept is designed for automation without manual labour. For this purpose, we have not only reinterpreted and tested the removal process, but have also provided fully automation on site and in the factory. Floorens is the first product system of its kind, characterised by its small size and agility.

Designer(s)
Marius Knipp & Jan Haller
Jan and Marius have had almost identical career paths. After completing their apprenticeships in carpentry, both of them studied product design at the HfG. The motivation for their work stems from their professional backgrounds and their desire to shape the future of craftsmanship. Even after completing studies, their paths did not diverge. Currently, they work for UP Designstudio in Stuttgart. Design has been a significant part of their lives since childhood. Coming from a family of architects and exhibition builders, they were exposed to a physical engagement with products from an early age.
